Post-Secondary Prep Counseling

At PossibilityU, we believe that true preparation for life after high school begins long before application season. Therefore, PossibilityU’s Post-Secondary Prep Counseling service prioritizes early intervention and holistic support. Informed by Dr. Michael Nakkula’s possibility development framework, our program introduces middle and high school students to their possibilities for life after high school by walking them through Dr. Nakkula’s innovative five-step model: Exploring Interests, Prioritizing Interests, Planning for Action, Taking Action, and Assessment. Students will emerge with greater insight into their future goals and possibilities as well as a tangible roadmap, or Possibility Portfolio, for how to make their dreams a reality.

What sets PossibilityU apart?

  • We view students as more than applicants; we view them as humans. We embrace the complexities of each student’s life, helping them build confidence and self-awareness by understanding and articulating their true selves.

  • We believe that effective post-secondary planning begins long before the 12th grade. We focus on post-secondary prep counseling starting in middle school.

  • We don’t just call ourselves counselors; we are certified school and mental health professionals. We offer more than just logistical support—we guide students through their educational journeys with care and integrity.

  • Our approach is rooted in leading youth development research and grounded in Dr. Michael Nakkula’s possibility development framework. We specialize in possibility mentoring, which focuses on relationship-building, exploration of one’s possibilities, and pursuit of both short and long-term goals.
