Possibility Portfolio Program
Before beginning any application writing support services, we require all rising seniors to engage in our 6-session Possibility Portfolio Program. Administered in both individual and group settings, students work alongside a certified counselor to explore their interests and strengths, identify what motivates them, and prepare a practical roadmap, or Possibility Portfolio, that makes their possibilities tangible. This foundation prepares high school seniors to articulate their authentic narratives and goals more clearly in their applications.
Course Plan
-
Students will be introduced to the possibility development framework and start exploring their possibilities. Students will begin by identifying and articulating their interests, which may include long-term ambitions, current hobbies, or dreams for the future. Often, these ideas are vague, and this phase allows students to clarify and deepen their interests.
-
Students will begin to understand their strengths and prioritize their interests to clarify what truly motivates them. This prioritization process involves challenging students to consider why certain interests hold more weight than others based on values, personal aspirations, and other factors. This helps students focus on pursuits that align with their deeper motivations and goals, bringing greater intentionality to their action planning.
-
Students will articulate their goals with greater intention. By breaking down long-term aspirations into achievable short-term goals, students will gain insight into potential pathways that make their possibilities more tangible.
-
Students will identify specific actions, strategies, and skills needed to make progress toward their articulated goals. In particular, students will focus on skill development, understanding how their previous experiences and current interests can evolve into transferrable career skills.
-
Students will take what they’ve learned to co-create an individualized action plan alongside their counselor. Counselors will walk students through how they can take advantage of enrichment opportunities in both their school and community.
-
With a finalized Possibility Portfolio, students will consider the ever-evolving nature of their goals and the importance of ongoing assessment and self-reflection. Students will identify resources that they can turn to as they put their plan into practice. Continued post-secondary prep counseling is discussed.
